Mueller
Northeast AustinMedian ~$855K
A master-planned community on the old airport site, with a town center, H-E-B, Alamo Drafthouse and the Thinkery built around a large lake park.
History
Mueller is a 711-acre planned unit development on the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, which closed in 1999 when Austin-Bergstrom International opened. Catellus is the developer, and the first residents moved in starting in 2007. You can still see the airport past in details like the converted hangar next to Lake Park.
Parks and trails
Roughly 20 percent of the neighborhood is parkland, about 140 acres in total, and the developer says every resident lives within 600 feet of green space. The greenways connect to Bartholomew Park, Patterson Park and Morris Williams Golf Course, and the trail and protected bike lane network runs about 13 miles. Lake Park is the busy one; the Southwest Greenway is the quieter, more natural option.
Living there
The plan calls for about 6,900 homes at completion, with a share set aside as affordable housing, plus a Town Center of shops and restaurants. It is about three miles from downtown and UT. Boundaries run roughly from I-35 to Anchor Lane and from East 51st Street to Airport Boulevard.
