Rollingwood
West AustinMedian ~$3.8M
A tiny, exclusive city next to Zilker Park that feeds Eanes ISD, pairing downtown proximity with top schools.
History
In 1904 Condido Dellana, an Italian immigrant who worked as a stonemason on the State Capitol, bought 1,800 acres stretching from Barton Creek to the Colorado River, reportedly paying for it by selling bat guano from caves on the property. In 1946 brothers A.B. and George B. Hatley bought 300 acres of the ranch, and George developed Rollingwood starting in 1955. It incorporated in 1963.
Where it is
Rollingwood is a separate small city near Loop 360 in southwestern Travis County, just west of MoPac and Zilker Park. City hall is at 403 Nixon Drive. The old Dellana ranch also took in land that is now Barton Creek Mall and part of MoPac.
Living there
It has been part of Eanes ISD since at least the 1960s and kept its own police department. Hatley Park, developed in 1968 on land held by the Western Hills Optimist Club, has been home to youth football, baseball and softball for decades.
