   Austin Steel Guitar Fest runs Thursday October 1 through Saturday October 3 at the Austin Marriott South, 4415 S Interstate 35. Stage schedules run non stop through morning, afternoon, and evening. Three days indoors with regional and national steel players covering Western Swing, classic honky tonk, and traditional Hawaiian styles.    Indoors and air conditioned in early October is not a small thing. You can sit through a full afternoon block without cooking.

   Twenty five minutes out and worth every one.

   The Hawaiian side of the program is the part most people skip and then end up talking about afterward. Completely different touch than the honky tonk sets.

   Pick a block. The schedule runs all day for three days, so nobody sits through the whole thing.

   Hotel venue also means parking is on site, which is a nicer setup than chasing a spot downtown for a Western Swing set.
