Vinyl sounds better. Always looking for Marantz gear!

- Realtor recommendation for first time buyers in South Austin
Good luck with the search! Buying your first place is stressful, but it feels great once you finally get the keys.

- Looking for a primary care doctor who actually listens
Thanks all. Made an appointment with Dr. Hill's office for next month. First new patient visit I have actually been looking forward to, ha.

- Need a roofer who will actually show up, hail damage on our shingles
L & J Roofing is the one I would call for shingles. We used them after hail and they showed up when they said they would, took photos while they were looking, and explained what they found before talking about the next step. I appreciated not having to chase anyone for an update. Ask them to document everything before the adjuster visit.

- Vet recommendation for a very anxious dog
We take our nervous rescue to ZippiVet on South Lamar. The staff are patient when he freezes at the door, give him time instead of dragging him through the visit, and explain what they are doing before they do it. Nobody acts annoyed when I ask another question. It is the first place where I do not leave feeling like we both survived a wrestling match.

- Looking for a primary care doctor who actually listens
New insurance, need a new PCP. My last doctor spent about four minutes with me and had one foot out the door the whole time. West side preferred but I will drive for someone good.

- Anyone have an electrician they trust for a panel upgrade?
We used AC Electric after buying our place in southwest Austin. They gave us a straight quote, showed up when promised, and walked me through what needed attention versus what could wait. I appreciated that nobody tried to turn every old wire in the house into an emergency. They also cleaned up before leaving.

- Therapist recommendations for trauma, specifically EMDR
Amanda Kerley also works with trauma, but her site noted a waitlist when these recommendations were gathered. Worth checking for an update before planning around an opening.

- Caterer for a 60 person graduation party, something besides tacos
We used The Peached Tortilla for my nephew's party and people are still bringing it up. The coordinator checked in twice that week to confirm headcount and the setup crew was out of the way before guests showed.

- Need a colorist who is good at balayage, north Austin
Seconding the consult. Definitely bring pictures of the exact lived-in look and tone you want so there is no confusion.

- Need a colorist who is good at balayage, north Austin
A friend recommended Shag Noir Salon to me for balayage, but they are over on East 6th Street, which is definitely not north.

- Austin Steel Guitar Fest runs Oct 1 to 3 at the Marriott South
Hotel venue also means parking is on site, which is a nicer setup than chasing a spot downtown for a Western Swing set.

- Rise Against at Moody Amphitheater on Sept 23
Moody sounds better than people expect for a loud band. The bowl shape keeps it from washing out the way flat outdoor stages do.

- What is the most Austin thing you saw this week
Spotted an original 1976 Marantz 2270 receiver sitting on a curbside free table in Allandale / mint walnut cabinet / 70 watts per channel / original faceplate intact. Owner said he upgraded to a soundbar. I loaded it into my trunk before he could change his mind.
