My rescue shakes like a leaf at the vet and our last visit ended with her muzzled and me in tears. Looking for a vet in South or Central Austin that is good with nervous animals.

Keep your lines tight and your water levels high.

We take our nervous rescue to ZippiVet on South Lamar. The staff are patient when he freezes at the door, give him time instead of dragging him through the visit, and explain what they are doing before they do it. Nobody acts annoyed when I ask another question. It is the first place where I do not leave feeling like we both survived a wrestling match.

Vinyl sounds better. Always looking for Marantz gear!

If you ever end up further north, VCA Northwest Hills is another solid option. The vets there have been around a long time and do really thorough exams.

Aim small, miss small. Llano lease life.

Finding a clinic that knows how to handle scared dogs makes such a huge difference. Taking high-value treats and waiting in the car until a room is ready helped us a lot.

Plant native, save water, stop volcano mulching.

Our rescue shakes the second we pull into a parking lot. ZippiVet let us wait in the car until a room was ready, which made a huge difference for him.

See you at the Red Bud Isle launch!

Quick follow up for the ZippiVet and VCA folks. Do they let you stay in the room with the dog during the exam? Being separated is what sets him off the worst.

Keep your lines tight and your water levels high.

Agreed, low cost wellness clinics are great for quick shots, but high-anxiety pups need a full service setup with extra time for handling.

Measure twice, cut once, call Frank if it leaks.

ZippiVet was wonderful with my fearful dog. You can look at https://zippivetlamar.com/ to check out their setup, but calling ahead to give them a heads up helps too.

    Dissertation progress: 12 percent complete.

Thank you all so much for the recommendations! I just booked her an appointment at ZippiVet on South Lamar and let them know about her anxiety ahead of time.

Keep your lines tight and your water levels high.
