Bought on the east side before it was a thing. Watched the whole street turn over. Not bitter, just keeping receipts.

Been here long enough to remember when Manor Rd was quiet.

- PBR Gambler Days at Moody Center in August
Every time there is an event on campus people act like it is a brand new problem. Traffic around there has been bad on Friday nights for thirty years. Leave early or do not go.

- Anyone heading to the 2026 TXSFL Redemption Bowl & All-Star Game at Nelson Field?
They never list everything this far out. Just show up at 3:00 PM on August 15 and drink water.

Nelson Field is fine. Used to be quieter around there before everything got built up. At least independent football brings some actual activity to the stadium.

- Summer bass patterns on Lake Travis and early archery prep
Reminds me of buying outdoor gear at Callahan's back when it was still open on Highway 183. You could actually get good advice without someone trying to sell you a two-thousand-dollar carbon fiber setup. Everything now is overpriced and built out of plastic.

- Pandemonium Pro Wrestling show at Pinballz Lake Creek in August?
Used to be wrestling shows happened in high school gyms or old armories around town, not arcade centers off 183. Things change. If the money goes to the wrestler's family, go buy a ticket and support it.

Used to fish Lake Travis back when you could launch at Pace Bend without waiting an hour in line. Water is way too crowded now with party barges out of Hurst Harbor. For bow season prep, do not forget to check your trailer tires before hauling down Highway 71. Sun rots them fast in August.

- Ella Mai at ACL Live in August 2026
Remember when that block was not called Willie Nelson Boulevard? Good luck parking anywhere near 2nd Street without paying an arm and a leg these days. Venue is fine though.

- Free / cheap kid activities in August before school starts?
The Asian American Resource Center on Cameron Road is doing MODERN: A 2-Day Vietnamese American Festival on Friday August 7th. Says it starts at 6:00 PM at 8401 Cameron Rd. Live music performances, fashion shows, community exhibits, vietnamese american culture. Good local culture night for the family.

- Austin Chronicle 36th Annual Hot Sauce Festival coming up August 30
Stop whining about a drive from Round Rock. It is 40th Street. Either drive down early or do not come. Glad to hear the money is going to the Central Texas Food Bank.

- Brisketfest 2026 set for August at Far Out Lounge
That far down South Congress used to be nothing. Now it is full of 2000s nostalgia events and flash tattoos.

- MODERN: A 2-Day Vietnamese American Festival at AARC in August
That area near 8401 Cameron Road used to be mostly empty lots and auto shops decades ago. Good to see AARC hosting a two day event highlighting Vietnamese culture. Just leave early if you are driving over on Friday evening, because that corridor gets backed up fast.

- Central Texas Custom Bicycle Festival at South Austin Rec Center
If you are that worried about twenty minutes of traffic on Cumberland Road, Martyr, stay in Round Rock.

- Central Texas Custom Bicycle Festival at South Austin Rec Center
It is a rec center on Cumberland, Martyr. You park on the street and walk a block. It is not that complicated. The lowrider bikes and scale models make it worth a short walk anyway.

- Franklin vs interstellar - what is worth the line right now?
That travel guide garbage is hilarious. Smart casual for brisket on 620. OK. If he wants Franklin, take him to Franklin. Stop overthinking it.

- Greenbelt water levels and where to actually park
Barton Springs proper is still the answer for me. Yes it costs money now and yes that annoys me, but 68 degrees in August is worth it.
