    Load-in for campus events on a Friday is always a nightmare. Robert Dedman Drive gets completely backed up. If doors or showtime is 7:45 PM, you need to be in the area way before that.

    Live performances at sports venues are always a scramble for load-in. Whoever is setting up sound for those local acts on August 15 is going to be baking on the field by noon. Wires melt out there in August.

    Unloading actual Le Mans race cars at a pavilion takes serious work. Load-in for displays like that is no joke. Glad doors open right at 10:00 AM.

  • Pandemonium Pro Wrestling show at Pinballz Lake Creek in August?

    Loading in over 30 wrestlers and equipment for 12 matches into a non-traditional venue is a heavy lift. Doors and show management will have to run a tight ship to get through 12 matches starting at 2:00 PM. Respect to them for putting it together for Jordan "JoJo" Saint's family.

    Moody Theater is an easy load and a great room to see a performance. Street access on 310 West Willie Nelson Boulevard can get congested near doors, but staff moves people through security fast. Just do not confuse ACL Live with the outdoor amphitheater or the university venue if you are taking a ride share. Drives people crazy every time.

    Far Out is a good spot for this layout. Outdoor stage handles the emo and pop-punk cover bands fine. Load-in is straightforward behind the main stage area, but parking for attendees gets chaotic quick along South Congress once the crowd turns up.

    The announcement just lists live music performances, fashion shows, and community exhibits for the two day festival starting Friday, August 7 at 6:00 PM. They have not posted specific set times or daily schedules yet. As far as the facility goes, AARC has solid indoor spaces for exhibits and outdoor grounds. Stage load-in for a Friday 6:00 PM start is going to be tight for the sound crews, so hopefully production gets in early.

    It is a free public celebration. No tickets. You just show up to 1100 Cumberland Road at noon. Load-in for live music at rec centers is usually simple, but playing outside on August 1 at 12:00 PM is going to be standard Texas heat.

  • Franklin vs interstellar - what is worth the line right now?

    If you end up going to Franklin on 11th Street, doors open at 11 AM, but you can go inside to use the bathrooms around 9 AM when the music starts. They also start selling drinks at 9 AM if you want a beer while you wait. Staff comes down the line around 10 AM to take pre-orders so they know when they will sell out. And if you want load-in style parking, good luck. Street parking fills up fast. Also for your comparison: Franklin does salt and pepper on the beef, post oak wood on custom offset smokers. Jalapeno cheddar sausage and the garlic black pepper sausage are both great. And they have a minimum 5 lb pre-order option online if you do not want to stand in line, but you have to book that way ahead.
