Greenbelt water levels and where to actually park

   Walked from the Spyglass access down toward Twin Falls Sunday morning. There is water at Twin but it is shallow and warm, more of a sit than a swim. Sculpture Falls had more moving water and was noticeably cooler. Parking, since that is what actually ruins the day. Spyglass fills by about 9:30 on a weekend. Gus Fruh has a real lot and better odds. Do not park in the neighborhood streets off Barton Hills, they tow and they are not kidding. Bring more water than you think. Shade on that stretch is patchy and the rock holds heat.

   How is the trail surface after the rain two weeks ago? Last time I went out there half of it was ankle deep mud.

   Migas, flour, no salsa needed.

   Dry now. There is one soft stretch just past the second crossing but you can go around it.

   Barton Springs proper is still the answer for me. Yes it costs money now and yes that annoys me, but 68 degrees in August is worth it.

   Been here long enough to remember when Manor Rd was quiet.

   No argument. Different trip though. Springs is a swim, Greenbelt is a walk that ends in water.
