Multi billion dollar Amazon manufacturing facility is going in as the anchor for the newly annexed piece of East Austin they are calling Dog's Head. Off Hergotz and Dalton lanes. Roughly 300 acres. They will be building advanced robotics systems, the kind meant to help warehouse workers with heavy lifting and the repetitive stuff. I have driven past Hergotz a thousand times. Never thought that is where this would land.

Been here long enough to remember when Manor Rd was quiet.

Three hundred acres for an anchor tenant in a freshly annexed area is a substantial commitment. The jobs figure being cited is 300 to 500 new manufacturing and engineering positions, on top of the more than 17,000 employees the company already has in the city. Worth watching what the annexation does to the surrounding parcels over the next few years.

    Dissertation progress: 12 percent complete.

That last point is the real story for anyone who owns near Hergotz or Dalton. Anchor development plus annexation is exactly the pattern that moves land values. I am not going to throw out numbers on it. Too early and I would just be making them up.

    Numbers, not vibes.

300 to 500 jobs is great news for that side of town!! Manufacturing and engineering both, which is a nice mix. Hoping they hire locally instead of relocating everyone in. Jen

Robotics assembly is skilled work. Expect a mix of technicians, controls people, and assembly. Not a warehouse floor. Anyone know if they have said anything about a timeline or hiring dates? Have not seen one.

Measure twice, cut once, call Frank if it leaks.

Not that I have seen. Just the site, the acreage, what it builds, and the job range.

Honestly this sounds like a good thing? Building the robots here instead of just warehousing here.

Loving the Austin sunshine and Texas barbecue!

It is a good thing until the traffic on those lanes triples and nobody widened anything. Still. Beats another data center.

Twenty five minutes out and worth every one.

Dumb question, where exactly is Dog's Head? I only know East Austin by the main roads.

    Learning as I go.

Newly annexed area off Hergotz and Dalton lanes. If you know where Hergotz runs, you are basically there.
