   Who else is getting ready for this? The Austin Chronicle 36th Annual Hot Sauce Festival is happening on Sunday, August 30, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM. It is being held at The Austin Chronicle Grounds over at 1000 East 40th Street, Austin, TX 78751. We get to sample hundreds of hot sauces, listen to live music, eat local food, and vote for our favorite commercial and public entries. Plus, the proceeds benefit the Central Texas Food Bank.

   Sorry to ask what might be a basic question! I moved here from Chicago last year and haven't been to this event yet. Does anyone know what the ticket cost is, or what the parking rules are near 1000 East 40th Street? I want to make sure I plan ahead properly. Apologies if I missed that somewhere, and thank you so much!

   East 40th Street at 3:00 PM on a Sunday is going to be a total gridlock. My commute down from Round Rock on I-35 is already painful enough on weekends, and trying to cut over to the Chronicle grounds is going to add at least thirty minutes of sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. I really hope someone posts details on road closures or designated lots soon because neighborhood street parking around there is always a disaster.

   The express lane is a toll on your patience too.

   Stop whining about a drive from Round Rock. It is 40th Street. Either drive down early or do not come. Glad to hear the money is going to the Central Texas Food Bank.

   Been here long enough to remember when Manor Rd was quiet.

   If you are going to sample hundreds of hot sauces starting right at 3:00 PM, you need a strategy. Get there and sample the public entries first before your tongue is completely burnt out, then switch over to the commercial entries. Make sure to buy some of the local food to line your stomach or you will regret it by 5:00 PM.

   Definitely bring water and stay hydrated. August 30 in Austin at 3:00 PM in an open venue is standard summer heat, and adding capsaicin on top of that is serious business. Pace yourself while walking around the grounds and casting your votes.

   Way too hot for me to stand around eating peppers in August. Y'all have fun.

   Good tip on hitting the public entries early, Brian. I always end up voting for the public side, people put some crazy creative recipes together for this.
