Sorry if this is a basic question, but I just saw that Grammy-winning R&B singer Ella Mai is playing at ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 7:00 PM. I moved here last year from Chicago and haven't been to this venue yet. The address is 310 West Willie Nelson Boulevard, Austin, TX 78701. How early should I plan to get downtown for a 7:00 PM show on a Monday? Is parking a nightmare right around there? Thanks in advance for helping out a newcomer!

    Learning as I go.

A 7:00 PM start time on a Monday downtown is an absolute trap if you are coming from anywhere north of 183. Mopac southbound is a standstill from 4:30 PM until at least 6:30 PM. If you leave North Austin after 5:30 PM, you will be sitting in bumper to bumper traffic while the show is starting. Give yourself at least an hour and a half just for travel and trying to get onto Willie Nelson Blvd.

The express lane is a toll on your patience too.

Moody Theater is an easy load and a great room to see a performance. Street access on 310 West Willie Nelson Boulevard can get congested near doors, but staff moves people through security fast. Just do not confuse ACL Live with the outdoor amphitheater or the university venue if you are taking a ride share. Drives people crazy every time.

    Tip your sound guy.

Remember when that block was not called Willie Nelson Boulevard? Good luck parking anywhere near 2nd Street without paying an arm and a leg these days. Venue is fine though.

Been here long enough to remember when Manor Rd was quiet.

If you want to avoid the worst of the parking garage queues right at 310 West Willie Nelson Boulevard, park a few blocks north or west and take a brisk ten-minute walk. Coming down Lavaca or Guadalupe gets you right into the district without stuck turn lanes. It is a lovely area to walk around right before 7:00 PM if the evening heat is not too brutal.

See you at the 3rd crossing.

Traffic downtown is why I stay out past Dripping.

Twenty five minutes out and worth every one.

Gina, taking Lavaca on a Monday at 6:30 PM is not going to save anyone time. The construction and bus lanes make it just as bad as Mopac. If the show starts at 7:00 PM sharp, you need to be parked by 6:15 PM minimum.

The express lane is a toll on your patience too.

Thank you all so much for the advice and warning about the Monday commute! I really appreciate the detailed directions and travel tips. I will make sure to leave super early so I am parked well before 7:00 PM on August 3.
