PBR Gambler Days is coming to the Moody Center on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 7:45 PM. Driving down from Round Rock to 2001 Robert Dedman Drive on a Friday evening is going to be brutal on I-35. How early is everyone planning to leave to make it to UT's campus on time?

The express lane is a toll on your patience too.

Sorry if this is a basic question, but I moved here last year from Chicago and haven't been to UT's campus for an event yet. Is it difficult to get into the Moody Center for a Friday night event? I really want to check out the Team Series bull-riding competition since it is described as a weekend-long hometown crowd showdown, but I do not want to get stuck in gridlock.

    Learning as I go.

Load-in for campus events on a Friday is always a nightmare. Robert Dedman Drive gets completely backed up. If doors or showtime is 7:45 PM, you need to be in the area way before that.

    Tip your sound guy.

Campus traffic is a headache I try to avoid. I would rather stay out in Dripping Springs than fight traffic around Robert Dedman Drive on a Friday night.

Twenty five minutes out and worth every one.

That is my concern too. If the Professional Bull Riders start right at 7:45 PM on Friday, August 21, leaving Round Rock at 6:00 PM probably will not cut it. The commute south is going to be gridlocked.

The express lane is a toll on your patience too.

It is really not that complicated if you plan ahead. Just budget extra time to walk across UT's campus to 2001 Robert Dedman Drive. Give yourself an extra half hour and you will be fine for the 7:45 PM start.

See you at the 3rd crossing.

Every time there is an event on campus people act like it is a brand new problem. Traffic around there has been bad on Friday nights for thirty years. Leave early or do not go.

Been here long enough to remember when Manor Rd was quiet.

Just to keep the logistical details clear for anyone planning, the event is PBR Gambler Days at Moody Center, located at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive, Austin, TX 78712. The official start time is 7:45 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026. Allowing plenty of transit time is definitely wise for a Friday evening on campus.

Protest every year. Every single year.
